An accurate coulometric method for the chlorometric determination of sulfonamides

AB  - A coulometric method for the chlorometric determination of microquantities (0.04-0.1 mg) of sulphaphenazole, sulphadimidine and sulphamerazine, is described. The titration is carried out with a constant current of 2 mA, in the presence of methyl orange as indicator. The results obtained are accurate and reproducible; the method is simple and rapid and can be applied to routine analysis of investigated sulfonamides, within the concentrations examined.

Method for determination of phenylbutazone and oxyphenylbutazone by bromocoulometric titration

AB  - A method for the quantitative determination of phenylbutazone and oxyphenylbutazone by bromocoulometric titration is presented. Bromine is generated at the anode and, under the titration conditions applied, it is added quantitatively to the double bond of the enol form of dioxophenyl-pyrazolidine. The titration end-point is detected by the decolorization of methyl orange solution used as the indicator. The results obtained show that the method is reproducible and accurate for the determination of small quantities of these analgesics.
