Abstract
This paper gives some recently published data of our research group related to application of the Bay-Liebhafsky (BL) oscillatory reaction (the reaction of catalitic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide in presence of both H+ i IO3-) in analytical purposes. Regarding the extreme sensitivity of nonlinear chemical systems on small changes of external factors, such as temperature, inflows, light, etc., the oscillatory reaction systems, can be generally used as the matrix reaction systems for kinetic determination of different substances. Our research group, proposed the kinetic method (the pulse perturbation of the oscillatory reaction system being in a stable steady state, PPOSS) for quantitative determination of various analytes, which is based on potentiometric monitoring of concentration perturbations of the matrix reaction system being in a stable non-equilibrium stationary state close to the bifurcation point. The inducted maximal potential shift (Delta E-m) is proportional to the amo...unt of analyte added, and its unknown amount can be simple determined on the bases of previously constructed calibration diagram. It was shown that the proposed method is very useful analytical tool regarding the fact that it uses very simple, modular equipment and thus it can be a part of any analytical laboratory. Up to now, the usefulness of the PPOSSS procedure has been demonstrated with various pure substances as well as with substances from different sources (pharmaceutical dosage forms, beverges, biologicaly liquid (urine) and seized drug samples); it was shown that its applying is very suitable in routine analysis of different biologically and pharmaceutically important compounds.
