The aim of this study is to monitor the dynamism of change in concentrations of biochemical parameters during induced experimental necrotizing pancreatitis (EANP) in dog. Concentrations of calcium, albumin and also activities of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine aminotransferase (ALT) were measured by routine analytical procedures. PO2 and PCO2 were measured as standard blood gas parameters. EANP was induced by injection of the solution of sodium taurocholate containing trypsin into the pancreatic duct of dog. 25 mongrel dogs were randomized in one control (group I) and four EANP induced groups. In the groups II and IV pancreatic exudate from the inflammed gland were drained and continuously pooled within the peritoneal cavity as ascitic fluid, but in the groups III and V a polyethylene bag was sutured around gland in order to prevent contact with the peritoneal cavity. At the same time in the groups IV and V thoracic duct lymphs were removed, and in the groups II and III after removal they were returned to the venous system. AII samples were collected before and 1, 3, 6 and 24 hours after induction of EANP. Dynamism of change concentrations of calcium and albumin, and activities of AST and ALT in serum were similar. Average serum concentrations/activities of all studied biochemical parameters between groups were not significantly different (P >0.05). The levels of PO2 decreased in arterial and venous blood, but levels of PCO2 increased in all EANP groups. The levels of PO2 and the levels of PCO2 in arterial and venous blood in groups II and III were significantly lower and higher (P lt 0.05) than those in groups IV and V, respectively. These suggest that levels of PO;! and PCO2 were influenced by drainage of the thoracic duct lymph.en
