Introduction: Plastic is a cheap, light, solid, durable material, resistant to corrosion, with pronounced thermal and electrical insulating properties. The existing waste and recycling infrastructure cannot keep up with the growing volume of plastic production, which causes serious environmental problems. Various additives are used in the production of plastic products, such as phthalates and bisphenol A, and some of them can couse harmful effects on human health and the environment. The Aim: Examining students' knowledge and attitudes about the use of plastic packaging and the possible effects of plastic components on human health. Material and Methods: 175 students from the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Belgrade participated in the research. The investigation method was a questionnaire consisting of 10 questions with offered answers, the answers were referred to plastic bottles, because it is the packaging that is most often used in the student population. Results: 98.3% of respondents use plastic bottles to a certain extent. 73.3% of respondents use a disposable bottle repeatedly. Bottles made of biopolymers are rarely used, or not used at all. 49.7% of respondents know that polyethylene tetraphthalate is the most commonly used material in the production of plastic bottles, while other materials are not known to them. 70.3% of respondents never check the number in the triangle on the bottle. 74.3% of respondents know that PET packaging can be recycled, but 60.3% of them rarely or occasionally dispose of plastic bottles in a recycling container. Conclusion: We need to expand knowledge about the possible impact of plastic components on human health, its proper use, reduce use, and if we already use it then we should recycle, use biopolymers as a replacement and be familiar with triangle numbers.sr
