Abstract
Coeliac disease is defined as permanent intolerance to dietary gluten (and related prolamins from barley, rye and oats) resulting small intestinal villous atrophy with cinsequent malabsorption and malnutrition. Epidemiological studies have shown that coeliac disease is very common and affects one in 250 people (1 in 133 Americans ). Symptoms of celiac disease include diarrhea, weight loss, malnutrition, and isolated nutrient deficiencies but not gastrointestinal symptoms. The disease is associated with an increased rate of osteoporosis, autoimmune diseases and malignant diseases. The gluten free diet (GFD) is a treatment of choice in coeliac disease. This diet is a life long treatment for all gluten sensitive patients.
Celijačna bolest se definiše kao permanentna netolerancija na gluten iz hrane (i srodne prolamine iz ječma, raži i ovsa) usled čega dolazi do oštećenja tankog creva što rezultira pojavom malapsorpcije i malnutricije. Epidemiološke studije su pokazale da je celijačna bolest veoma česta i da se javlja u jedne od 250 osoba (jedna od 133 osobe u Americi). Simptomi su od dijareje, gubitka težine i malnutricije do latentnih, kao što je deficijencija pojedinih nutrimenata, bez gastrointestinalnih simptoma. Celijačna bolest uslovljava povećanu incidencu osteoporoze, autoimunih oboljenja i maligih oboljenja. Dijeta bez glutena je osnovni, doživotni tretman za celijačne bolesnike .
